Ever wonder what the difference is between NPT, BSPT, and BSPP Threads?
Which standard pipe thread is commonly used depends on where you are in the world. Your application can also determine which type of pipe thread is needed based on the location of the customer base.
NPT (National Pipe Thread):
National Pipe Thread Taper is the most popular type of thread used in the United States and Canada for tapered threads used on threaded pipes and fittings. Unlike straight threads that you find on a bolt, a taper thread pulls tight and therefore makes a fluid-tight seal.
BSPT (British Standard Pipe Thread):
Very similar to NPT, British Standard Pipe Threads are standard screw thread types that have been adopted internationally for interconnecting and sealing pipe ends. They are most popular in China, Japan and some of the European countries.
