What’s the different of ductile iron , gray iron and malleable cast iron ?
The characteristic of ductile iron is very tough, graphite is in the form of a ball.
The feature of gray iron is very brittle , graphite is in the form of strip .
The particularity of malleable cast iron is graphite is a group of flocculent tiles .
So the ductile iron is hardest , malleable cast iron is harder than gray iron .
Why the the toughness of them is different ?
The big reason is time of annealing . If it annealing long time , then the cost also is higher and the quality also is better .
